On Thursday, August 14th, the TARDIS landed in New York City for the American stop on the Doctor Who World Tour. Some lucky fans that were able to score tickets had the chance to see the first episode of the new season featuring the brand new Doctor, Peter Capaldi, before anyone else in the country. The new Time Lord was on hand along with showrunner Steven Moffat and companion Jenna Coleman, who all walked the special blue carpet in front of the Ziegfeld Theater prior to the screening and a special Q&A hosted by Chris Hardwick. We were there to catch all the action and even took a few moments to chat with Miss Clara Oswald herself about the new beginning for the long-running British sci-fi series.

Amidst all the camera flashes and taking selfies with fans who lined the NYC sidewalks to catch a glimpse of her, Coleman was very enthusiastic to talk about the change coming on ‘Doctor Who’. During our conversation, the actress shed some light on how it was for her to go from performing opposite Matt Smith to Peter Capaldi. Then, keeping with the topic of change, we discussed whether she has thought about her own departure from the show after seeing Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill’s Amy Pond and Rory Williams in addition to the Eleventh Doctor move on during her tenure so far. Coincidentally, after our interview, rumor emerged about Clara leaving the show around Christmas. So far, those reports have not yet been confirmed, but it was a pretty crazy coincidence to hear that news right after we just talked about that very subject. But for now, while she’s still around, check out our interview with Jenna Coleman in the video below:

Are you excited to see the new adventures that are in store for Jenna Coleman on ‘Doctor Who’ now that there’s a new Doctor in the TARDIS?
