Not to be outdone by some other superhero shows on television next season, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. brought The CW’s ‘Arrow’ to San Diego Comic-Con to preview the third season of the Emerald Archer’s adventures. During the panel, executive producer Greg Berlanti joined stars Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Colton Hayes, Willa Holland, John Barrowman, and Paul Blackthorne discussed what everyone in Starling City would be up to when show returns.
Before the crew even entered Ballroom 20, we learned that Hayes’ Roy Harper would be suiting up as Arsenal to fight alongside the Arrow. However, there are still some “unresolved issues” from last season that need to be addressed, so even though Oliver Queen may be loosening up and more reminiscent of the classic comic version of the character, there will be a little friction between the duo.
Felicity Smoak was a hot topic of the panel as it was revealed that we’d be getting more background information on Team Arrow’s brains this season. In the episode titled ‘Oracle’, we go back to her days at MIT and learn more about her father. But back in the present, the producers teased that they “weren’t trying to fake anybody out with Oliver’s confession to her at the end of last year, so we’ll deal with that directly this year.” How will this happen? It looks like we will see the pair affectionately known as “Olicity” around the web on a real date. While they don’t go any further about where it will ultimately lead, Amell hints that the date goes horribly.
But the main event of this gathering is definitely the first look at the upcoming season. After taking an action-packed look back at the first two seasons, we get a glimpse of Oliver’s time in Hong Kong, Brandon Routh’s Ray Palmer AKA The Atom, the new Count Vertigo, and a shocking final image that will certainly raise more than a few questions.
