‘Jurassic World’, a reboot of the groundbreaking Jurassic Park franchise is officially a go, with Colin Trevorrow (‘Safety Not Guarenteed’) attached to direct a script he co-wrote alongside producer Pat Crowley based on a first draft by ‘Rise of the Planet of the Apes’ scribes Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver.  Steven Spielberg will executive produce.  The film is scheduled to hit theaters during the packed 2015 summer movie season (Avengers: Age of Ultron, Star Trek 3, Batman Vs. Superman, Star Wars: Episode VII).

Footage has surfaced that is alleged to be a pitch trailer for the fourth movie in the franchise, featuring attacking pterodactyls.  The footage was supposedly shown at Germany’s Celebration Europe II in July.  Check it out:

While Coming Soon stands by the legitimacy of the footage, Cinema Blend doubts this, pointing out the lengthy lag time between when this was supposedly shown, to it surfacing on the internet.  Also, the site points out that the actual title was just announced last night.

Producer Frank Marshall actually refutes the notion that this is actual footage from the film which has not begun production.

As the tweet points out, there are allegations that the pterodactyl footage is actually from a “canned” Jurassic Park video game.  To be quite honest, I’m inclined to believe that, as the CGI is far inferior to the life-like dinos featured in the actual movies.  This looked more like a Syfy original movie take on Jurassic Park!  But then again, if this was just test footage to pitch a new film, that could be the explanation.  They’re not going to do their best work for just a pitch, right?

At any rate, shooting on ‘Jurassic World’ will begin in early 2014.  Casting rumors include Dallas Bryce Howard, David Oyelowo and Garrett Hedlund, but we shall see.
