Warner Brothers Halts Kickstarter for Cancelled DC Fan Favorite Animated Shows

Young Justice CancelledIt’s official.  Warner Brothers has squashed any hope of a Kickstarter-style campaign spearheaded by SMGO.tv to drum up grass roots fan support to revive Young Justice: Invasion and Green Lantern: The Animated Series, two cartoon programs that struck an emotional chord with viewers.  SMGO.tv was hoping to gather fan support in order to finance at least one more season of each show, in order to wrap up dangling story lines, but Warner Brothers has killed any hopes of resolution for Young Justice‘s Apokolips storyline or the return and redemption of Aya on Green Lantern.  (Also, I have to point out that the comic book adaptations sold poorly and were cancelled, so the idea of resolving these stories in that format is also unlikely.)

SMGO.tv’s official statement read:

Hey all, I’ve been trying (all day) to come up with a slightly better way to say this, but I’m just going to give it to you straight. Warner said no – they don’t think we can reach our goals – do you believe that?

These two mature, intelligent shows were replaced by the extremely juvenile and scattered Teen Titans Go! and Beware the Batman, which has yet to premier.  Smooth move.  Teen Titans Go! is so immature and silly, I couldn’t even recap it for this site, because it was just a bunch of silly vignettes.  There wasn’t really anything that resembled a plot.  And I loved the old Teen Titans series, but this is only the silly asides strung together as this nonsensical mashup.  Batman will feature a machine gun toting Alfred and Katana.  We’ll see.

So, I guess we’ll just have to enjoy what we have.  I honestly wish they’d never even included the Darkseid scene on YJ.  And as far as Aya… sigh, my lovely, wonderful Aya… I will miss you, along with the truly noble Razer.  These shows were incredible and the fan support only reinforces that.  We, as viewers, were emotionally invested in these programs and the fact that an entire organization sprung up to try and save them speaks volumes.  But sometimes what’s done is done and it appears that this is the case here.  Young Justice and Green Lantern: TAS, I enjoyed your presence and will miss you.  Teen Titans has already lost me.  I’ll give Batman a shot, but… I already know it won’t measure up.

No articles I write generated as much feedback as those about these two shows.  Please share your thoughts or memories about these shows below.  Let’s try to avoid anger and simply share our mutual love.  Let’s trust that the Team and the Justice League ultimately defeated Darkseid and that Hal and the crew recovered Aya and that she and Razer wound up together.

WTF. Seriously!!! They were best of bests among animated series of comics.

      I agree wholeheartedly!

  • I haven’t given up hope for Young Justice and Green Lantern and neither should the rest of the fans.

I’ve lost hope. Maybe in the far future someone might try a reboot of the show, but they would’ve lost the essence of it (probably).

  • Blue Lantern

    young justice forever

I’ve seen several attempts at DC cartoons, but, “Teen Titans Go”, are you kidding me?! This has got to be the worst one they’ve done yet. This show, on it’s best day, can’t compete with Young Justice or Green Lantern on their worst day! I don’t know about Batman, but I hope it’s better than Brave and Bold.

I still have hope and Faith that Young Justice and Green Lantern the Animated series will returned. Because I like to see the Team and the Justice League take on Darkseid and the possible return of Wally West/Kid Flash. And I want to see Razer as a Blue Lantern as he searches for Aya and reunites with her. Then the 2 rejoin Hal and Kilowog along with some new charcters who join them as they protect the universe. John Stewart, Kyle Rayner along with some characters and Green Lanterns would also appeared. Guy Gardner, The other GLs, Carol Ferris, The Star Sapphires, The Blue Lanterns, Artocitus, the Red Lanterns, Larfleeze, Mogo, Lolande would up also returned. And I would like to see Hal, Kilowog, Razer, and Aya battling Sinestro and the Sinestro Corp, Scar and the Black Lanterns too.

But they only showed, besides greeny’s, about what Red, Sapphires, Blue….yea no one even harvested the quardion into the Yellow so that about hell 5 rings left. They couldn’t even bother to try Blackest Night, that needs to be animated well, maybe not TAS animated but animated still. Granted i was impressed that they even included the Sapphires they at least need to decide if razor is gonna be a red, blue, or pink lantern, granted males aren’t know to take the Star but it’s still a better love story then Twilight. (never seen it just had to say it, even daleks make better love storys)

I loved Young Justice sooooooooo much it was my favorite show and it angers me but at least I got to see my robin grow up right? Well I hope that the new batman isn’t stupid cause that would be very disappointing but hey YJ was an amazing show and I loved the story line and how they put super boy and miss Martian together like who would of thought of that, but seriously I will miss this show very much. At least they have the first season on netflix though so I can re watch it over and over.
