Now that the Phase One set is available to all who can afford it and Phase Two begins in a month with the release of ‘Iron Man 3’, it’s a safe bet to assume that Marvel is ready for the build towards ‘The Avengers 2’. After Tony Stark returns to the big screen to battle The Mandarin, Thor will follow suit a few months later when he flies into action against the latest foes to threaten Asgard and Midgard in ‘Thor: The Dark World’. But what of the second half of Phase Two?

Reports indicate that both ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ and ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ are deep into pre-production and actual filming should be commencing sooner rather than later. But other than some casting news here and there, we’ve been kept in the dark about official details. But now, thanks to Geek Zenith, we get our first glimpses of the two upcoming films.

Though we still don’t have details available for Cap’s new adventure or the Guardian’s first outing into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, what we do have are some cool looking pieces of concept art from the films.

First, we have the piece from ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’. The painting features both title characters, the Sentinel of Liberty himself battling the bionic-armed Soviet assassin with the familiar face. You can see the fight in the picture below:

Directed by Greendale Community College regulars Anthony & Joe Russo, ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ starring Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Anthony Mackie, Frank Grillo, Toby Jones, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, George St-Pierre, and Emily VanCamp is scheduled to land in theaters on April 4, 2014.

Next, we have a few pictures for James Gunn’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’. As the report points out, these shots look as if George Lucas’ ‘Star Wars’ films heavily influence them. In fact, the one scene even looks like the intergalactic cantina. I wouldn’t be surprised if Rocket Raccoon lights up a cigar in this seedy dive if it actually makes it into the movie. Check out the concept art below:

My favorite part of those shots has to be the grumpy Drax with his arms folded. He does not look amused by whatever Star-Lord, Groot, and his other teammates have going on.

‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ starring Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista (so far) is scheduled for release on August 1st, 2014.
