The CW live-action DC Comics shows may… or may not be able to use the character Deathstroke the Terminator.  (That status changes on like a weekly basis.  Slight exaggeration.)  But The CW Seed is set to deliver a new animated series ‘Deathstroke: Knights & Dragons’.  During The CW’s upfronts, CEO Mark Pedowitz announced the new ‘Deathstroke’ series, plus a teen-oriented horror series ‘The Pledge’.

Originating from Blue Ribbon Content, ‘Deathstroke’ joins previous CW Seed animated series ‘Vixen’, ‘The Ray’, and ‘Constantine: City of Demons’.

Ten years ago, Slade Wilson—aka the super-assassin called Deathstroke—made a tragic mistake and his wife and son paid a terrible price. Now, a decade later, Wilson’s family is threatened once again by the murderous Jackal and the terrorists of H.IV.E. Can Deathstroke atone for the sins of the past—or will his family pay the ultimate price?

The previous shows were part of the same continuity as the “Arrowverse” live-action, but there was no mention as to whether ‘Deathstroke’ would be.  But the character may no longer be part of the “Arrowverse,” because he is set to be played by Esai Morales on DC Universe’s ‘Titans’ which does not share continuity with The CW’s programs.

As for ‘The Pledge’, this live-action “comedy horror” stems from producers Josh Stolberg and Pete Goldfinger, from the ‘Saw’ franchise, and takes place in a haunted sorority house.  No further information was given for this series.

In addition to appearing in various forms on The CW’s shows, Joe Manganiello portrayed the villain in a cameo in ‘Justice League’, with plans to feature him in additional movies, but those plans appear to have been shelved.  The character has also been featured on the various animated ‘Teen Titans’ TV shows and movies.

Are you excited to see the new animated ‘Deathstroke: Knights & Dragons’ or the horror-infused ‘The Pledge’?
