Disney Channel has unveiled plans for a new animated series about a young British wizard in training. Uhhhh, no, not that one. At the Children’s Media Conference in Sheffield, England, Disney introduced ‘Sadie Sparks’ which will premier in 2019. Created by Bronagh O’Hanlon ‘Sadie Sparks’ will consist of 52 episodes, with O’Hanlon directing. Rebecca Hobbs leads up the team of writers.
The show follows the magical tale of 14-year-old Sadie who realizes she has magical abilities and becomes a wizard-in-training, with the guidance from a grumpy ancient rabbit, Gilbert, who is sent to the human world from the Magical Realm to train Sadie and keep her crazy powers under control. The show combines two animation styles, the Magical Realm appears in 2D and the human world in CGI. Sadie and Gilbert hop between the two worlds using their magician’s hat portal.

Georgia Lock (‘The Evermoor Chronicles’) provides the voice of Sadie, while the series also features the voice talents of Craig Revel-Horwood (‘Strictly ComeDancing’), Rufus Hound (‘Waffle the Wonder Hound’). Other voices will be provided by Sammy Moore, Tyger Drew-Honey, Dominique Moore, Morwenna Banks, Laura Aikman, Dan Renton Skinner and Rufus Jones.

Considering that this show appears to be SO British, I’m not even sure that it will be available in the US. Expect more information as ‘Sadie Sparks’ draws closer to release.
