Brother Voodoo
Marvel Comics

RUMOR MILL: Take this information with a grain of salt as it is strictly a RUMOR for now.

Maybe they should rename ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, ‘Avengers 5’ or maybe ‘Avengers: Dark’.  Not only does the film feature the return of Benedict Cumberbatch as the Sorcerer Supreme, Stephen Strange, but also Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch.  A RUMOR just surfaced that America Chavez could turn up, and now the same sources (@DanielRPK and The Illuminerdi) are reporting that a male character of Caribbean-descent, specifically from Haiti, is being sought, which would seemingly indicate that Brother Voodoo (also known as Doctor Voodoo) will also make his cinematic debut in this film.

There has already been one nod to Brother Voodoo in the MCU, which fittingly arrived in the first ‘Doctor Strange’.  Daniel Drumm was the protector of the Sanctum Sanctorum in that film before he was killed by Kaecilius.

In the comics, Haitian Jericho Drumm came to the United States to study, becoming a psychologist.  Upon returning to Haiti, he discovers his brother Daniel, a powerful voodoo houngan on death’s door after being attacked by a disciple of the serpent god Damballah.

Jericho began studying under Daniel’s mentor, Papa Jambo, who bonds Daniel’s spirit to Jericho.  With Jericho now a powerful voodoo sorcerer, Papa Jambo died.

Brother Voodoo only appeared regularly for two years, 1973 and ’74.  During that time, Marvel received angry letters from Christians who were offended by the depiction of voodoo and its use by a “hero.”

Though the character only appeared sporadically after that, in 2009, he took over as Earth’s Sorcerer Supreme from Doctor Strange and began going by the name Doctor Voodoo.  He has since served with various versions of the Avengers.

Off-panel, he had a brief romance with Monica Rambeau, a.k.a. Spectrum, a character that will make her adult debut in ‘WandaVision’, a series that is known to set up ‘Multiverse of Madness’.  Teyonah Parris will portray Monica on ‘WandaVision’, which will presumably lead to an additional appearance in the MCU.

Take all of this with a grain of salt, but there has been buzz of Brother/Doctor Voodoo appearing in the MCU at some point.  This could be the perfect vehicle.
