Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Quicksilver

Fans of Marvel Comics know that character deaths can always be retconned but actor Aaron Taylor-Johnson is stressing not to get your hopes up that Quicksilver is going to be returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon. Disney+ currently has two shows in the works that could see the character be brought back (‘What If…?’ and ‘WandaVision‘) but that doesn’t seem to be the case. Unless the actor is keeping quiet due to an NDA in his contract, it doesn’t sound like there are any plans to bring back Pietro Maximoff after his death in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron‘ in either a flashback, alternate Earth, or resurrection scenario.

According to the actor:

“I think we’re both open to possibilities, like the Marvel Universe like it has been over the years, but obviously yes, I’m aware of the Disney+ platform and all of the shows that are going, and I’m still in touch with a lot of the people. I mean, I think it’s safe to say that no, I’m not gonna… there will be no appearance of me coming out or Quicksilver appearing anytime soon.”

‘WandaVision’ would have been the perfect way to race the character back on screen in either a flashback Wanda is having or by being brought back by her reality-warping powers. Alternately, one of the ‘What If…?’ episodes could have given us more time with the character. Unfortunately, this doesn’t seem to be the case.

The actor appears perfectly willing to reprise the role if Marvel was interested in finding a way to bring him back, but as much as we’d like to see our heroes and villains fight on eternally, the importance of death being permanent has its place too.
