BBC Teases A Doctor Who Announcement Is Coming
BBC

The BBC has released a teaser hinting that something pertaining to ‘Doctor Who’ is coming on November 23… but what?  The last adventure of Jodie Whittaker’s Thirteenth Doctor was aired on New Years Day, so it has been almost a year.  It’s pretty unlikely that the BBC would surprise drop the twelfth season, so it’s more likely that the November 23rd event will be the announcement of when new episodes will arrive.  It’s entirely possible that the year will end with either a Christmas or New Years Special, as is the tradition for this series, to be followed by new episodes in early 2020.

Here is the initial teaser:

The trailer bears the slogan “Watch This Space,” which was then repeated on this poster:

We do that the new season is expected in 2020, but perhaps this announcement will be of an exact release date.

In July, there were rumblings of a holiday special before 2019 ended.  This past year, the show opted for a New Years Special versus the traditional Christmas Special.  It wouldn’t be surprising if the show pulled out another year-end special of some sort.

Showrunner Chris Chibnall has already announced that the Judoon are returning, and even released an official photo of them with Whittaker.  Chibnall told ‘Doctor Who Magazine’:

“Knowing that we’d be filming in broad daylight with Judoon on the streets of Gloucester, we made a plan to release an official photo with the Doctor (oof, she looks cross, why would she be looking cross?) the night before.”

More enthusiastically, he stated, with the release of the photo:

“No! Sho! Blo! The Judoon are storming back into Doctor Who in full force, and the streets of Gloucester aren’t safe. If anyone has anything to hide, confess now. The Judoon are taking no prisoners, and will stop at nothing to fulfil their mission! The whole team on Doctor Who are delighted and scared in equal measure to welcome them back: One of many treats we’ve got in store for viewers next series. And we’re over the moon (with Judoon), to be welcoming the wondrous Neil Stuke as guest star. We can’t wait to show you what happens when his path crosses with the Thirteenth Doctor.”

It has also been revealed that the Cybermen will also be back.  Will they be back in the new season, or in a special?

Guess we’ll just have to wait two weeks until November 23, to find out!  What do you hope to learn on that date?
