‘The Aeronauts’ will arrive on Amazon Prime to stream in December, but judging by those that have seen it projected onto a big screen, you may want to hit the theater to see this aerial marvel in a cinema when it is released for a limited theatrical run in two weeks.
Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones reunite in this historical account of a meteorologist, James Glaisher, who takes to the skies in an effort to advance his burgeoning science of understanding and predicting the weather. He takes along with him a “daredevil balloon pilot,” Amelia Wren. But when they soar to heights never before reached by man, they encounter hardships that it doesn’t appear they were prepared for, including freezing temperatures and lack of oxygen. Also, if you are like me, and afraid of falling from great heights, this might be the most terrifying movie of the year.

Check out the new trailer below:
In 1862, daredevil balloon pilot Amelia Wren (Felicity Jones) teams up with pioneering meteorologist James Glaisher (Eddie Redmayne) to advance human knowledge of the weather and fly higher than anyone in history. While breaking records and advancing scientific discovery, their voyage to the very edge of existence helps the unlikely pair find their place in the world they have left far below them. But they face physical and emotional challenges in the thin air, as the ascent becomes a fight for survival.
Despite earlier reports to the contrary, ‘The Aeronauts’ will screen in both regular theaters and IMAX, and the film was actually shot partially in IMAX to capture the grandeur (and horror) of their sky-high adventure. ‘The Aeronauts’ will be released for a limited time on Wednesday, October 6th.
If you don’t think you can handle that, ‘The Aeronauts’ will be released on Amazon Prime Video on December 20th, just in time for your family holiday gatherings.
