After getting word of the positive feedback for the preview at Fantastic Fest, the consensus is that ‘Primal’ is a crowd-pleaser filled with violence and fun with a great story. ‘Primal’ will begin airing on October 7. Here’s the official synopsis:
“‘Primal’ features a caveman at the dawn of evolution. A dinosaur on the brink of extinction. Bonded by tragedy, this unlikely friendship becomes the only hope of survival in a violent, primordial world.”
Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of Cartoon Network’s ‘Dexter’s Laboratory’, ‘Samurai Jack’ and the original ‘Star Wars: The Clone Wars‘ is returning back to his home network with ‘Primal’. From the clip, it is unclear whether the relationship is based on companionship or competition between the two characters or both, however, it is certain that the show is not for younger audiences.
‘Primal’ is a gory and intense animation about surviving in a barbaric world. Similar to ‘Samurai Jack‘, the series uses little to no dialogue and utilizes elements such as comic relief. The intense clip shows a race between predators to catch prey that ends in a standoff over freshly killed prey.
‘Primal’ recently previewed a handful of episodes at Fantastic Fest in Austin, Texas and which supposedly yielded positive reactions from those who were able to attend. Film contributor Rafael Motamayor took to Twitter with a rave reaction, writing:
“I knew Tartakovsky’s ‘PRIMAL’ would be visually stunning and a fun gore fest, but I wasn’t expecting it to have so much heart. We saw 4 of 5 episodes and it is just a perfect example of visual storytelling. No dialogue, incredible action, heartfelt emotion.”
Tartakovsky has also worked on shows like ‘Powerpuff Girls’, ‘Cow and Chicken’, ‘The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy’, ‘Batman: The Animated Series’, and many other classic animated shows.
‘Primal’ will air in its entirety across five days, from October 7 and concluding on October 11.
