Zombieland Sequel Will Introduce A New Evolved Zombie

A sequel to the box office hit ‘Zombieland’ has finally made it’s way to us 10 years after being released in theaters in 2009. After producing a revenue of $102.3 million on a $23.6 million budget, many would have expected a sequel sooner, but it took some time for it to be pieced together.  The film is bringing back all four of the main cast Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin (who are all now Oscar nominees) to a zombie-run, post-apocalyptic world. What’s new? There are new breeds of zombies running about.

While ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ will be bringing back some of the same mediocre zombies from the first movie, now many of them will belong to their own behavior-based classification based on their behavior. Furthermore, there’s one new zombie that is exceptionally formidable as they’re virtually impossible to eliminate.

According to director Ruben Fleischer, the sequel will feature zombie classifications:

“I think our heroes are a little complacent because the zombies don’t present much of a challenge anymore. They’ve started to categorize them into different groups. There’s ones that they call Homers, who are kind of the dumber zombies. There are the Ninjas who are a little bit more crafty and they might sneak up on you. And then there’s the Hawkings, who are smarter zombies.”

Just like people have different intelligence levels, it would only make sense that some zombies would be smarter than others. The specific reason why is still a mystery. Maybe some still have some use of their brainpower because they just recently were zombified. Or maybe some were just intellectually superior as humans and it passed on with them during the transformation into zombies.

In any event, there’s one new kind of zombie on the scene known as a T-800, and it’s a force to be reckoned with. Fleischer he went into detail about the new undead addition:

“There’s a new kind of zombie that they haven’t met before called a T-800, a name for the infamous Terminator. These T-800s are much more dangerous, threatening form of zombie. For the first time, I think our heroes feel like they’re in true jeopardy because of this newly evolved form of zombie.”

Like it’s predecessor, ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ will still be narrated by protagonist, Columbus (Eisenberg). Through his eyes, we will learn all about these new zombies and how he along with Wichita, Tallahassee, and Little Rock handle them. We will also see the new rules to surviving and what has changed over the past 10 years on October 19th when ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ is released in theaters.
