The upcoming horror film ‘Lake of Death’ by TrustNordisk is going to be getting a wide release thanks to a pick up from AMC Network‘s streaming horror service Shudder. The production company has pre-sold the Norwegian horror film in the following six territories: The U.S., U.K., Canada, Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. It is set to be directed by Nini Bull Robsahm (‘Amnesia’) with Thomas Robsahm attached as the executive producer. It will star Iben Akerlie, Jonathan Harboe, Sophia Lie and Elias Munk and was put together on a roughly $3 million budget.

This new film is based upon the iconic 1942 novel by the same name which was penned by André Bjerke. This will be the second time the tale has been brought to the big screen, but most audiences won’t have seen the original adaptation which was released in 1958.

The film is being described as:

“Lake of Death” follows a small group of friends who battle to survive in the middle of Norway’s forests and fjords. A local legend that everyone thought was mere folklore becomes reality when one of their group turns up dead.

Of the sale of the film, TrustNordisk’s managing director Susan Wendt shares:

“Shudder’s profile fits perfectly with a high-concept horror-thriller such as LAKE OF DEATH, and we really believe that the film will reach a large thrill-loving audience on this platform”

While the U.S. release date has yet to be revealed it is expected for a Halloween premiere in Norway this year.
