Emergence
ABC

This fall, ABC welcomes freshman drama ‘Emergence’, from the team of Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters.  Among other projects, the pair have worked together on ‘Agent Carter’ and ‘Dollhouse’.  Allison Tolman, who was nominated for a Golden Globe and an Emmy for her role as policewoman Molly Solverson on the first season of ‘Fargo’, is back, playing another law enforcement figure, this time as Police Chief Jo Evans.  After a mysterious plane crash, she encounters a young girl (Alexa Skye Swinton) who seems to have amnesia, and appears to be the only survivor of the crash.  But it rapidly becomes clear that strange forces are at work, after fake government agents show up, demanding to see the girl.

In advance of the show’s premiere, ABC has released the first nine minutes of the pilot episode.  The pacing is methodical, but a lot of information is conveyed in those few minutes.

A character-driven genre thriller, “Emergence” is about a police chief who takes in a young child she finds near the site of a mysterious accident who has no memory of what has happened. The investigation draws her into a conspiracy larger than she ever imagined, and the child’s identity is at the center of it all.

The preview clip also introduces Ashley Aufderheide as Jo’s daughter, Bree, Clancy Brown as Jo’s father, Ed, an ex-firefighter, Zabryna Guevara as pediatrician Abby Fraiser, and Robert Bailey Jr. as one of Jo’s police officers, Chris Minetto.  The cast of ‘Emergence’ also includes Donald Faison as Alex Evans, Jo’s ex-husband and Bree’s father, and Owain Yeoman as Reuter’s investigator, Benny Gallagher.

Tolman was most recently seen in the recurring role of Mary Pat on NBC’s ‘Good Girls’.  She also appeared in the ‘Twilight Zone’ episode “The Wunderkind.”

‘Emergence’ will emerge on ABC in less than a month, on September 24.
