As someone who enjoyed the original Jim Henson outing into the world of ‘The Dark Crystal,’ I’ve been eager to see more of ‘The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance’ and the latest trailer somehow has me even more excited for the series. In the new 10-episode show, we’ll see the story kick-off “as power-hungry overlords drain life from the planet Thra, a group of brave Gelfling unite on a quest to save their world and fight off the darkness.” I suspect that while you won’t need to see ‘The Dark Crystal’ to fully enjoy this story, it likely wouldn’t hurt. Of course, the special effects might not live up to the high standards of today’s viewers. The puppetry is still amazing, but some of the rest has fallen behind to what can be done today.
Still, ‘The Dark Crystal’ was a solid story, and the new series looks to be doing it justice.

I can’t get over how stunning the Jim Henson Company has been able to make this look under the guiding hand of director Louis Leterrier. One can only hope that this ends up being a hit and that we’ll see multiple seasons of this series go into development.
