supernatural dont go into the woods

Saying goodbye is hard, but it seems that although ‘Supernatural’ is headed into its fifteenth and final season, this may not be the absolute end of the road.  Jenson Ackles for one is leaving the door open for a possible return in the future.  The cast and creators appeared at the TCA press tour to tout the last season, and Ackles stated:

“It’s a long journey that I don’t think is ever going to be over. I think we’re just going to go away for a while. For how long, I don’t know.”

He later clarified:

“I’m not ready to close doors or burn bridges — that would be foolish.  Is something in the works?  No.  Am I open to having a conversation in the future?  Why not?”

It’s not surprising that the parties involved aren’t actively planning a return for the Winchester brothers, seeing as how they’re wrapping up a fifteen-year run.  They clearly need time to recharge their batteries.  But with so many shows from the past being revived, it wouldn’t be strange if, in a few years, there is some sort of revival of ‘Supernatural’.  The CW has already revived ‘Charmed’ and ‘Rosewell’ (as ‘Roswell, New Mexico’), but those are fresh reboots without the involvement of the original casts, although some of the creators are attached.  But revivals including the original casts has worked for the likes of ‘Fuller House’ and more recently ‘Veronica Mars’.

The CW’s president Mark Pedowitz said that ‘Supernatural’ will have a home at the network whenever they want to come home:

“Fifteen years is a remarkable achievement.  Now I get a little sad. You will always have a home here, and you will always have a personal fan in me.”

Would you like to see the Winchesters and Cas return in a few years?

The final hunting trip kicks off on Thursday, October 10 at 8 pm EST on The CW.
