Gemini Man
Paramount Pictures

‘Gemini Man’ stars two versions of Will Smith, and now comes the second trailer for the film.  Smith portrays Henry Brogan, an ace assassin, who as he approaches the age of 50, plans to leave the killing game behind.  He suddenly finds himself the target of a killer who can seemingly predict his every move.  As it turns out, there’s a good reason for that– his pursuer is a clone of himself, at the age of 25.

Here is the film’s official synopsis:

‘Gemini Man’ is an innovative action-thriller starring Will Smith as Henry Brogan, an elite assassin, who is suddenly targeted and pursued by a mysterious young operative that seemingly can predict his every move. The film is directed by Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Ang Lee and produced by renowned producers Jerry Bruckheimer, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger. Also starring are Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Clive Owen, and Benedict Wong.

Unfortunately, this looks like a case where they give you the entire movie in the trailer, especially if you watch both the first trailer in addition to this one.  If the big reveal is that Old Henry is a clone himself, this movie deserves to make no money, because that’s just lazy.  But there are a few clues that this might be the case.

This film has been in development since the ’90s!  At times, Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, and Mel Gibson have all been attached to star.  The screenplay was written by ‘Game of Thrones” David Benioff, Billy Ray, and Darren Lemke, based on a story cooked up by Benioff and Lemke.  Jerry Bruckheimer, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don Granger serve as producers.

Get ready to see double, when ‘Gemini Man’ arrives in theaters on October 11, 2019.  From the look of things, this might be an instance where it’s worth it to pop for the 3D tickets.
