Danai Guirira is exiting ‘The Walking Dead’ during the upcoming tenth season, and from the looks of things, Michonne will go out in a blaze of glory.  Entertainment Weekly has unveiled the first image from Season 10, in which Michonne is slaying zombies in a forest which is ablaze.

Showrunner Angela Kang that the creators wanted to examine the impact of natural disasters on this post-zombie apocalyptic world, where there aren’t firefighters or relief workers to come to the rescue.

“One of the things that we have going on this season is, we’re continuing some explorations of natural elements and how they play into our world.  And fire is one of those elements that comes into play in a few key ways that twist the story in a way that will be pretty exciting.  Fire is terrifying now, but we sort of take for granted that we have people that can deal with it. It obviously has very different implications for our people in an apocalyptic world.”

What else can fans expect from Season 10?  Kang confirmed that there will be something of a time jump.  Although she wouldn’t confirm how much time will have passed, she stated that viewers could figure that out by the depictions of the children.  War is also brewing with the Whisperers and Kang indicated that this conflict would play out much differently than the gunfire during the war with the Saviors.

“I don’t want to give too much away about this particular story because hopefully there’s some unexpected aspects to it, but we will definitely see our people trying to contend with things that they can’t handle in the same ways that we do in our world now.”

‘The Walking Dead’ will return this fall on AMC, but the show will have a panel at San Diego Comic-Con this weekend, so check back for updates!
