Edward Furlong
Paramount/20th Century Fox

‘Terminator: Dark Judgement’ has enlisted another unexpected returning star from ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’.  At the film’s San Diego Comic-Con panel, producer James Cameron announced that Edward Furlong who played teenager John Connor in ‘T2’ also appears, alongside his original co-stars Linda Hamilton and Arnold Schwarzenegger.  Cameron didn’t go into detail, but it’s a safe bet that Furlong doesn’t appear very much in the film, as this was the first mention of his involvement and he hasn’t appeared in any pics or trailers.

The character of John Connor would later be played by Nick Stahl in ‘Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines’, and later as an adult by Christian Bale in ‘Terminator: Salvation’ (2009), and Jason Clarke in ‘Terminator: Genisys’ (2015).  Ironically, Jude Collie will appear as a young John Connor in ‘Dark Fate’.

‘Dark Fate’ is a direct sequel to ‘Terminator 2: Judgement Day’, ignoring the events of all subsequent movies and the TV series ‘The Sarah Connor Chronicles’.

In ‘T2’, John Connor befriended Schwarzenegger’s T-100, who was the villain of the first ‘Terminator’.  They had to prevent the rise of Skynet and their killer automatons.

‘T2’ was Furlong’s first professional acting gig.  He went on to star in ‘Pet Sematary II’, ‘Little Odessa’, ‘American History X’, ‘Detroit Rock City’, and ‘The Green Hornet’, although the majority of his work has been in independent films.  His last movie was the thriller ‘The Reunion’.  He had the recurring role of Shane Casey on ‘CSI: NY’.  He has also popped up as Fixer in the fan web series ‘Star Trek: Renegades’.

Just last month, our very own Jordan DesJardin interviewed Furlong and you can read that here.

Are you excited that Edward Furlong is returning to appear as John Connor?

‘Terminator: Dark Fate’ opens in theaters on November 1, and also stars Mackenzie Davis, Natalia Reyes, Gabriel Luna, and Diego Boneta.
