Vincent D'Onofrio
Netflix

Though Netflix canceled all of its shows based on Marvel properties, fans are holding out hope that some of these characters might surface elsewhere.  One fan on Twitter proposed bringing Daredevil and the Kingpin into the film universe and starring alongside Spider-Man.  Vincent D’Onofrio, who played the Kingpin, a.k.a. Wilson Fisk on Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ series seems game, calling the idea “Astonishing.”

Charlie Cox, who portrayed Daredevil, has also expressed a willingness to reprise the role in a ‘Spider-Man’ movie, although that doesn’t seem likely.

Even though Kingpin is considered Daredevil’s arch enemy, he actually first appeared in 1967’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ #50 and was a foil for the Wall-Crawler.  He even battled Spidey on the big screen in last year’s ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’ and was voiced by Liev Schreiber.

Most likely, fans have seen the last of the characters from the Netflix shows.  Though some have held out hope that these programs could migrate over to Disney+, that will never happen for a number of reasons, but mainly because they are too explicit for the family-friendly service.  Hulu would be a more likely option, but it seems that most people involved have moved on to other projects.

Besides that, Disney+ will be home to TV shows stemming from Marvel Studios, the Disney subsidiary that creates the movies.  These will be the first TV shows from Marvel Studios.  All existing shows have originated from Marvel Entertainment/Marvel Television, and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige is well known to hate Marvel Entertainment and its chief Ike Perlmutter, and refuses to have anything to do with them, which is the real reason the characters from the shows haven’t shown up in the movies.  There is no way he’d be willing to share Disney+ with Marvel Entertainment, so those shows will continue on ABC, Freeform, and Hulu, but don’t expect them to surface on Disney+, as that is Feige’s turf.
