When Disney bought out 20th Century Fox it wasn’t just their back catalog and Marvel characters they were getting but also new films from Fox animation such as this year’s upcoming release of ‘Spies in Disguise.’ The film features both Will Smith and Tom Holland lending their voices into the leading roles for a tale directed by Troy Quane and Nick Bruno. Joining these two when ‘Spies in Disguise’ is released this Christmas season will be Ben Mendelsohn, Karen Gillan, Rashida Jones, DJ Khaled, and Masi Oka!
As mentioned above, Fox Animation is producing alongside both Blue Sky Studios and Chernin Entertainment.
Fox describes the upcoming animated feature as:
Super spy Lance Sterling (Will Smith) and scientist Walter Beckett (Tom Holland) are almost exact opposites. Lance is smooth, suave and debonair. Walter is … not. But when events take an unexpected turn, this unlikely duo are forced to team up for the ultimate mission that will require an almost impossible disguise – transforming Lance into the brave, fierce, majestic… pigeon. Walter and Lance suddenly have to work as a team, or the whole world is in peril. “Spies in Disguise” flies into theaters this Christmas.

The movie is based on the 2009 animated short ‘Pigeon: Impossible’ which was created by Lucas Martell. With Smith being smooth on the big screen and Holland showing off his awkward side as Peter Parker, it feels that these two were made to voice these characters.
