Josh Brolin as Cable in Deadpool 2

Josh Brolin pulled off an amazing job as Cable in ‘Deadpool 2’ and with Fox now owned by Disney, the future of the franchise is in question. Both Marvel Studios and Disney have repeatedly hinted that the “Deadpool” franchise would continue on uninterrupted by the transfer of characters into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but that doesn’t mean any of the supporting characters are safe.

Brolin was recently asked about his chances of returning to Cable at the ACE Comic Con in Seattle, and his answer was rather enlightening:

“I don’t know what’s going to happen. I’m actually… I’ve been calling them, like, ‘What’s the deal with Cable, man?’ Seriously, 100 percent serious. They’re figuring it out. It’s a big world now, it just got much, much bigger. So who knows?”

It sounds like the future of Ryan Reynolds take of the Merc with the Mouth is still very much in question. Hopefully, if he either transfers into the Marvel Cinematic Universe or continues in his own isolated world that Brolin will be joining him. Before the buyout occurred, it was confirmed that Brolin would return, but it was for an ‘X-Force’ film which now may or may not happen.

Brolin is already part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he played Thanos in the last two ‘Avengers’ films. We may still see Brolin return down the line to reprise his role as rumors have been swirling that we could see a young Thanos in ‘The Eternals,’ most likely a flashback scene but only time will tell how that plays out.

Are you hoping that Cable will make the cut when Marvel Studios finally moves forward with ‘Deadpool 3’? Could an ‘X-Force’ movie still happen? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
