Following a successful first season, Amazon Prime Video decided to continue its Stephen King mashup series ‘Castle Rock’, but rather than carrying on the same storyline from the first batch of episodes, ‘Castle Rock’ has been re-envisioned as a revolving anthology series, allowing its creators to draw from additional King works. And now, the series has signed on four guest stars, Sarah Gadon, Greg Grunberg, Robin Weigert, and Alison Wright.
Gadon will portray Rita Green, a “vengeful woman” from the past of King’s “nurse from hell” Annie Wilkes, from the novel ‘Misery’. Lizzy Caplan portrays Annie, and is the main character of the second season.
Grunberg plays Sheriff Boucher, “a local official, who faces off against a brewing, dark force in Castle Rock.”
Weigert will play Crysilda Wilkes, Annie’s mother, and Wright will portray Valerie, “a kind-hearted local who explores the town’s evil history.”

The cast also includes Barkhad Abdi as Abdi Omar, Matthew Alan as Chris Merrill, Elsie Fisher as Annie’s daughter Joy, John Hoogenakker as “a man with a complicated connection to Annie Wilkes,” Tim Robbins as Pop Merrill, Paul Sparks as John “Ace” Merrill, and Yusra Warsama as Dr. Nadia Omar. Some characters originate in King’s writings, while others were created for ‘Castle Rock’.
Gadon was recently seen on ‘True Detective’ Season 3, and on the Canadian comedy series ‘Letterkenny’.
Grunberg may best be known for playing policeman Matt Parkman on ‘Heroes’ and ‘Heroes Reborn’. He also has the small role as Resistance fighter pilot Snap Wexley in the ‘Star Wars’ movies, and will reprise that role in this December’s ‘Rise of Skywalker’.
Weigert stars as psychologist Amanda Reisman on ‘Big Little Lies’ and recently reprised her role as Calamity Jane in HBO’s ‘Deadwood: The Movie’.
Wright will star in the upcoming series ‘Snowpiercer’. She also starred on Amazon’s ‘Sneaky Pete’, ‘The Americans’, and ‘Feud: Bette and Joan’.
‘Castle Rock’ Season 2 is in production now, but Amazon has not announced when it will be available. Check back for updates.
