The Cast Of Angel

New York Comic Con will host a reunion of the cast of ‘Angel’ in honor of the 20th anniversary of the show’s premiere.  Confirmed to be in attendance are  Charisma Carpenter (Cordelia), Amy Acker (Fred/Illyria), Alexis Denisof (Wesley), J. August Richards (Gunn), and James Marsters (Spike).  Are we missing anyone?

Oh right… ANGEL!  The show’s lead, David Boreanaz has not been announced as being part of the panel, even though it was Boreanaz who first made mention of it in March, during an appearance on the chat show ‘The Talk’:

“We’re coming up on our 20 years. I mean, that’s amazing to have been blessed with a show like that and that’s where I really started my gig — this acting world.  I love that character.  So, I will say there may be something coming up. I don’t want to give away much. I can say, it’s 20 years coming up this fall and we may have something in the works.”

NYCC runs from October 3-6 at the Javits Center in New York.  Is it possible that Boreanaz has a conflict with his current series ‘SEAL Team’, which films in the Los Angeles area?  Could be.  Hopefully, that can be sorted out, because while fans would love to hear from the rest of the cast, it would be a bit awkward not to have the show’s lead present.

There was also no mention of the series’ creator Joss Whedon appearing.  Here’s hoping, that will also change.

‘Angel’ was, of course, a spinoff from the successful ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’.  Boreanaz’s Angel started on that show, as Buffy’s tortured vampire lover, torn between his humanity and the darkness of his vampire side.  On his own series, Angel relocated from the fictional suburb of Sunnydale, for Los Angeles, where he became a paranormal investigator.  Carpenter’s former mean girl Cordelia made the move with him.

Cast members Glenn Quinn and Andy Hallet have passed away.  The regular cast also included at times Vincent Kartheiser as Connor, who went on to greater success as Pete Campbell on ‘Mad Men’ and currently stars on FOX’s ‘Proven Innocent’, and Mercedes McNab as Harmony Kendall (another character that originated on ‘Buffy’), who got married in 2012, and retired from acting.

Stay tuned for updates!  Will you be attending the ‘Angel’ reunion even if David Boreanaz isn’t there?
