krypton-2

As we’ve previously reported, the SyFy channel has expressed interest in creating a “prequel” series of sorts for the Superman mythos.  Titled ‘Krypton,’ the show would be set on the titular homeworld of Superman and his people, a few generations before Supes would be born.

Now, we are receiving word that ‘Krypton’ has been picked up for a full season by SyFy.  While “full season” can many times be a vague term, audiences can likely expect anywhere between 10-24 episodes of the new show in its inaugural season.

Below is the first official image that the network has released, along with the description of the show.  Shown in the picture is Cameron Cuffe as Seg-El (Superman’s grandfather), Georgina Campbell as Lyta Zod, and Rasmus Hardiker as Kem.

krypton

Set two generations before Superman ever heads to Earth, Krypton follows Kal-El’s grandfather (played by Cameron Cuffe) — whose House of El was ostracized and shamed — as he fights to redeem his family’s honor and save his beloved world from chaos. The series comes from producers David Goyer (the Dark Knight trilogy) and Damian Kindler (Sleepy Hollow). Along with Cuffe, the show stars Georgina Campbell (Broadchurch), Elliot Cowan (Da Vinci’s Demons), Ann Ogbomo (World War Z), Rasmus Hardiker (Your Highness), Wallis Day (Will), Aaron Pierre (Tennison) and Ian McElhinney (Game of Thrones).

‘Krypton’ will premiere this Fall on the SyFy channel.
