Will You Be Running To See Sonic The Hedgehog After The First Trailer?

In a film that should never have been given a live-action adaptation, we’ve got the first trailer for Sega and Paramount Pictures’ ‘Sonic the Hedgehog’ movie to share with you today. Honestly, visually it looks better than I had expected as a mixture of live-action and CGI when it comes to Sonic and it looks as if the studio has decided to embrace Tony Stark’s Jarvis AI for much of Dr. Robotnik’s controls.

This isn’t Sonic’s first outing on film as he previously has had an animated series and appeared in both the “Wreck-It-Ralph” movies and made a cameo in Steven Spielberg’s ‘Ready Player One,’ however, this will be his first solo outing on the big screen where he isn’t part of another film’s production.

In the first synopsis, the studio is describing the film as:

SONIC THE HEDGEHOG is a live-action adventure comedy based on the global blockbuster videogame franchise from Sega that centers on the infamously brash bright blue hedgehog. The film follows the (mis)adventures of Sonic as he navigates the complexities of life on Earth with his newfound – human – best friend, Tom Wachowski (James Marsden). Sonic and Tom join forces to try and stop the villainous Dr. Robotnik (Jim Carrey) from capturing Sonic and using his immense powers for world domination. The film also stars Tika Sumpter and Ben Schwartz as the voice of Sonic.

I’m not quite sure how I feel about Dr. Robotnik’s look here. I wasn’t expecting the giant sphere, but I was expecting a bit more than just Jim Carrey being himself.
