Where was Valkyrie during the events of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’? It’s one of the great lingering questions fans have had since that film first unspooled last year. When she was last seen, Valkyrie (played by Tessa Thompson) was helping Thor evacuate Asgard and transport its survivors to Earth, at the end of ‘Thor: Ragnarok’.

That trip didn’t go according to plan. ‘Infinity War’ opened on the Asgardians’ space ship and the inhabitants were shown being slaughtered left and right by Thanos and the Black Order. Heimdall (Idris Elba) and Loki (Tom Hiddleston) were killed, the Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) got his ass handed to him, and Thor may have died, had it not been for the intervention of the Guardians of the Galaxy. So once again, where was Valkyrie?
Tessa Thompson offers an explanation of sorts, although it may not be the most satisfying reason:
“Sometimes I say she was in the bar. She’s alive though because [‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame’ filmmakers] the Russo brothers have said that, she’s not dead.”
Things may be made clearer in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ which arrives next week. While it isn’t confirmed that Thompson returns as Valkyrie, she got her own character poster for the movie (above) and Valkyrie action figures have been released as part of the various ‘Endgame’ toy lines.

She isn’t the only hero who was noticeably absent in ‘Infinity War’. Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye and Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man were also missing although there was an explanation for why they weren’t present when the… ahem, Avengers assembled. And we have already seen both of them in trailers. Perhaps footage of Thompson’s character is being withheld because when she does appear it is in a crucial situation and if fans were to catch a glimpse of that, it could prove to be a huge spoiler.
So even though it hasn’t been 100% confirmed, it is very likely that Valkyrie returns in ‘Endgame’.
Now, what about Korg?
