Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark

CBS Films has released a new poster for ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’, the new thriller directed by André Øvredal, produced by Guillermo del Toro, and based on the cult favorite anthology books by Alvin Schwartz, with illustrations by Stephen Gammell.  The studio also promised “This week will be Scary,” implying that more promotional material will be released– possibly even a trailer!

The screenplay was co-written by del Toro and Daniel Hageman & Kevin Hageman.

Here was the first log line released for the film.

Inspired by one of the most terrifying children’s book series of all time, SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK follows a group of young teens who must solve the mystery surrounding sudden and macabre deaths in their small town.

These teens will be played by Zoe Margaret Colletti (‘Annie’), Michael Garza (‘Wayward Pines’), Austin Abrams (‘The Walking Dead’), Natalie Ganzhorn (‘The Stanley Dynamic’), Gabriel Rush (‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’), and Austin Zajur (‘Kidding’).  ‘Breaking Bad”s Dean Norris and ‘Orange is the New Black”s Lorraine Toussaint are also among the cast.

Recently, a more detail synopsis was released:

It’s l968 in America. Change is blowing in the wind…but seemingly far removed from the unrest in the cities is the small town of Mill Valley where for generations, the shadow of the Bellows family has loomed large. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a young girl with horrible secrets, turned her tortured life into a series of scary stories, written in a book that has transcended time—stories that have a way of becoming all too real for a group of teenagers who discover Sarah’s terrifying tome.

As promised, here is the poster:
