The film adaptation of ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ just cast Dean Norris of ‘Breaking Bad‘ fame! Norris joins other cast members Gil Bellows, ‘Patriot’ and Lorraine Toussaint, ‘Into the Badlands.’

Guillermo del Toro worked on the screenplay along with Kevin Hageman, Dan Hageman, Patrick Melton, and Marcus Dunstan. Del Toro is also producing the film with Sean Daniel, Jason Brown, J. Miles Dale, and Elizabeth Grave. The film is directed by André Øvredal (‘The Autopsy of Jane Doe’). Speaking about the cast of the upcoming film, Øvredal said:

“Lorraine, Gil and Dean are exceptionally talented actors who also happen to be game for all of the creepy madness that this film entails. We are thrilled to have them aboard our macabre little train.”

‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ is currently filming in Toronto and “follows a group of teens who must solve the mystery surrounding a wave of spectacularly horrific deaths in their small town.”

Another cast member will join the trip into creep-town. The actor who lent his physicality to the monsters of films like ‘Mama,’ ‘The Slender Man,’ Alien: Covenant,’ and ‘The Conjuring 2’ Javier Botet has confirmed that he is filming a role in the film.

Other members of the cast include Zoe Colletti (‘Annie’), Michael Garza (‘Wayward Pines’), Austin Abrams (‘Brad’s Status’), Gabriel Rush (‘The Grand Budapest Hotel’), Austin Zajur (‘Kidding’), and Natalie Ganzhorn (‘Make it Pop’).

Alvin Schwartz, the mastermind behind the ‘Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark’ novels, got his start as a collector of urban legends and all things scary. Schwartz used the stories he heard and mixed in his own original ideas to create the terrifying series that caused me to hide under my covers from grades 5-7.
