Star Wars: The Mandalorian Will Include The Bounty Hunter IG-88

We’ve known that Taika Waititi was slated to direct two episodes of ‘The Mandalorian‘ and possibly appear as well though now it looks like he won’t be showing up in the flesh but rather voicing the bounty hunter droid IG-88.

While not officially announced, writer and executive producer Jon Favreau shared a scene of Waititi recording what looks to be voicework with IG-88 front and center on the screen in front of him. While it is always possible he is seeing the point-of-view of another character interacting with IG-88, it seems that Waititi will be speaking for this iconic bounty hunter droid.

The reveal was shown off in the following image:

It is always possible that the actor is actually doing voice work for someone wearing an Iron Man-themed Mandalorian armor with that helmet which is mounted right in front of him as well. We likely won’t know for sure until closer to the episodes being released and potentially not even until the series itself is available on Disney+.

Do you feel that Taika Waititi is an excellent fit for voicing IG-88 on ‘The Mandalorian’ or would you prefer to hear him handling a different character? If the droid is ever used in future films will we see him return to voice the part once more? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
