Nicolas Cage has made a lot of quality films in his career and quite a few crazy ones as well. It was recently revealed that one of his upcoming roles is going to be putting him into the science-fiction martial arts alien invasion thriller ‘Jiu-Jitsu.’ It isn’t clear if we’ll be following Cage as the leading character or if he’ll be playing second fiddle to Alain Moussi (‘Kickboxer: Vengeance,’ ‘V-Wars’) who is a Jiu-Jitsu fighter martial artist that constantly has to fight off an alien invader to protect the Earth. While Moussi has been in a slew of films for stunts, he hasn’t been central in too many to date, but the quality of his fighting could easily put him front and center here.
As for what to expect in the film, writer and director Dimitri Logothetis states:
“The film features Alain Moussi as a Jiu-Jitsu fighter who every six years must face off against an alien invader, Brax. Cage’s character teams up with him in a battle to defeat Brax.”
After we successfully reintroduced the Kickboxer franchise to a new generation of martial arts fans with the sixth and seventh entries in the series, we set out to up the ante with a sci-fi martial arts franchise that could bring the same kind of intensity and longevity to a new arena,” said Logothetis.”
With Cage being attached to 8 other films currently in various stages of production it is hard to tell when we’ll see him end up in front of the camera for this one.
Are you excited to find out more about ‘Jiu-Jitsu’? Would you be thrilled to see someone who usually does stunts tackle the leading role over Cage in a movie like this one?
