Godzilla: King Of The Monsters

The release of the third installment of the MonsterVerse, ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters‘, is only a couple months away and new stills from the feature are starting to pop up! Total Film has two variant covers which feature the King of the Kaiju, and in the upcoming issue, there are also four shots from the film. Below, you’ll see a shot of King Ghidorah, another of the King throwing down with Godzilla, and finally two shots of the cast from the film.

Director Michael Dougherty also had the following to share of what to expect in the film when being compared to Gareth Edwards’ take on ‘Godzilla’ as well as Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ ‘Kong: Skull Island’:

“What I loved about Gareth’s approach was that it was very grounded and very real. It felt like something you would see if you looked out your window. And then Jordan [Vogt-Roberts] pushed that further and brought a lot of colour and vibrancy into his frames [with Skull Island]. I wanted to continue that evolution. You know, portraying the creatures as very realistic, but at the same time embracing the color that they could bring – especially when you had a three-headed dragon that shoots lightning. You sort of have to embrace a more fantastical element when you bring in a giant moth or a giant bird born out of a volcano. You try to keep it as grounded as you can so that it feels real. But at the same time, you’re talking about very fantastical creatures.”

Following the global success of “Godzilla” and “Kong: Skull Island” comes the next chapter in Warner Bros. Pictures’ and Legendary Pictures’ cinematic MonsterVerse, an epic action-adventure that pits Godzilla against some of the most popular monsters in pop culture history. The new story follows the heroic efforts of the crypto-zoological agency Monarch as its members face off against a battery of god-sized monsters, including the mighty Godzilla, who collides with Mothra, Rodan, and his ultimate nemesis, the three-headed King Ghidorah. When these ancient super-species—thought to be mere myths—rise again, they all vie for supremacy, leaving humanity’s very existence hanging in the balance.

‘Godzilla: King Of The Monsters’ will be roaring into theaters on May 31st, 2019!
