Dead Mouse Productions is not only bringing us what could be the ultimate documentary to cover the 1990 mini-series of Stephen Kint’s ‘It’ but have signed Tim Curry on to be a part of ‘Pennywise: The Story of It.’ Not only has Curry rarely spoken about his time as the character who have made generations afraid of clowns but has done less work outside of animated films since his stroke in 2012. No one can blame him for that, but I for one can’t help but be excited to see him take part in this documentary.
John Campopiano who is in charge of the production said last year of it that:
“As a super fan of Stephen King’s IT for as long as I can remember, it’s been my dream to tell the story of the making of the movie and to unpack why Tim Curry’s portrayal of Pennywise the Clown has resonated so deeply with so many people for the last two and a half decades. As with any documentary of this kind, the gold really lies within the people and places responsible for bringing a film to life: cast, crew, and the film’s locations. Going a step further, it would be impossible to examine IT and Pennywise without also looking at the phenomena of coulrophobia, i.e., fear of clowns.”
I’m stoked that he was able to talk Curry into signing on. There have only been a couple of instances where he has actively spoken about the role, and anything he says here will, of course, be pure gold for fans of the series. As a fan of horror, there haven’t been many documentaries that I’ve wanted to check out, but this one has skyrocketed to the top of my list with his involvement.
The team behind it has already uncovered a ton of “never-before-seen photos” from the mini-series, and I’m hoping we might even get some new clips as well.
