Patton Oswalt is not only writing and executive producing the upcoming Hulu animated series ‘M.O.D.O.K.’ based on the Marvel Comics mad scientist, but he will provide the voice for the titular character, plus others.  Oswalt made the announcement during an appearance on ‘Late Night with Seth Meyers’.

“I’m gonna be voicing him. He is a supervillain, he has superintelligence, he has a forehead beam, he has all this technology. But, he is not on the A-level of Doctor Doom and the Red Skull. So, not only does he hate all the heroes, he hates all the other villains because he’s so resentful. Getting to play that is going to be really fun.”

Both Oswalt and Meyers are notorious comic book nerds, so it’s natural their conversation would drift to that subject.  (If you’d like to watch the entire segment, it appears below.)

‘M.O.D.O.K.’ was announced along with three other new animated shows coming to Hulu at some undisclosed point– ‘Hit-Monkey’, ‘Howard the Duck’, and ‘Tigra & Dazzler’.  All four are targeted at adults, not children.  The leads will then join forces in ‘The Offenders’, a spoof of sorts of ‘The Defenders’, a crossover between the now-canceled Marvel Netflix shows.

Once the buyout of 20th Century Fox is complete, Disney will own 60% controlling interest in Hulu.

‘Marvel’s M.O.D.O.K.’ centers around an egomaniacal supervillain with a really big head and a really little body, who struggles to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family. Writers Jordan Blum and Patton Oswalt will also executive produce along with Jeph Loeb.

Oswalt has worked extensively in voice acting, perhaps most famously as Remy in ‘Ratatouille’.  He can be heard as the narrator of ‘The Goldberg’, the titular animated donkey on FX’s ‘Happy!’, Nom Nom on ‘We Bare Bears’, Uncle Ben and The Chameleon on ‘Spider-Man’, The Atom in last year’s ‘Teen Titans GO! To the Movies’, and Max in this year’s ‘The Secret Life of Pets 2’.

In the flesh, he can be seen in the ‘Kim Possible’ TV movie, on ‘AP Bio’, ‘Veep’ and the upcoming reboot of ‘Veronica Mars’.
