Add one more name to the list of survivors of the zombie apocalypse.  Luke Wilson has joined the cast of ‘Zombieland: Double Tap’, the sequel to 2009’s cult classic ‘Zombieland’.  The sequel is due in theaters in October to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of the original, with director  Ruben Fleischer returning along with original cast members Abigail Breslin, Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, and Emma Stone.  Wilson’s role was not disclosed.

All that is known about the sequel is that the four main characters– Columbus (Eisenberg), Little Rock (Breslin), Tallahassee (Harrelson), and Wichita (Stone)– encounter “comic mayhem that stretches from the White House and through the heartland. The zombie slayers must face off against the many new kinds of zombies that have evolved since the first movie, as well as some new human survivors. Most of all, they have to face the growing pains of their own snarky, makeshift family.”  At least fans can rest assured that they have all managed to survive the last decade.

Original writers Rhett Reese, and Paul Wernick penned the script for the sequel along with Dave Callaham.  Wilson joins fellow newcomers  Rosario DawsonZoey Deutch, Avan Jogia, and Thomas Middleditch.  None of their roles have been disclosed.  It is also rumored that Bill Murray is returning for another memorable cameo and that he’s bringing Dan Aykroyd with him.

Wilson has dabbled in horror before, starring in 2007’s ‘Vacancy’ with Kate Beckinsale, and in an episode of ‘The X-Files’.  Among Wilson’s most popular films are ‘Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy ‘, ‘Charlie’s Angels’ and its sequel ‘Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle’, Legally Blonde’ and ‘Legally Blonde 2’, ‘Old School’, and ‘The Royal Tenenbaums’.  He can be seen in the anthology film ‘Berlin, I Love You’.  Upcoming, he will appear in John Crowley’s ‘The Goldfinch’ starring Andel Elgort, along with Nicole Kidman, Sarah Paulson, and Finn Wolfhard.  He has also been cast as Pat Dugan, the step-father of the lead character in DC Universe upcoming live-action series ‘Stargirl’.

‘Zombieland: Double Tap’ will be released on October 11.
