And we are off to the races! ‘Games of Thrones’ Season 8 will premiere in just a few months, and we are in the thick of rumors and speculation, the latest of which has been spurred on by a supposed leaked cast list for the premiere episode of the 8th season, which you can check out right here:
First off, an interesting name to note is Tobias Menzies who plays Edmure Tully, aka the groom at the infamous Red Wedding who has been sitting in a Frey cell ever since. With his name being included there’s a chance we will find out whether Arya freed him from that cell, and/or recruited him to the banner of the King of the North following her massacre of the Freys, which would be helpful considering they will need all the help they can get with the White Walkers coming.
In the same vein, Lino Facioli is also listed in the cast, being the young man who plays the somewhat deranged leader of the Vale, Robin, last seen sending his armies off with Sansa and Littlefinger as they made their way to the Battle of the Bastards. My guess is he will be another ally recruited into the war with the White Walkers, or barring that, a potential casualty of the White Walkers if he chooses to “stay out of it” and we see the Walkers overrun the Vale, a supposedly impregnable fortress because of its location and construction, which would really hammer home how unstoppable the White Walkers are.
Similarly, the list also includes Kristofer Hivju and Richard Dormer, which means both Tormund Giantsbane and Beric Dondarrion survived the destruction of the wall at the end of last season. My guess here is that they may be the ONLY survivors of the White Walkers crossing the wall and will show up at Winterfell as the only warning the North gets of the approach of the Walkers. And since Megan Parkinson and Harry Grasby (Alys Karstark and Ned Umber) are also listed here, my money (which Cinemablend happens to agree with) is that they will not get that warning in time, as their ancestral homes of Karhold and Last Hearth are among the first that will be overrun by White Walkers now that they have passed the Wall and their appearance in the premiere may simply be watching them attempt to defend their homes.
However, lets keep in mind this is a leaked list, so it may not even turn out to be accurate, though the names mentioned do make a lot of senses. Do you see anything we may have missed that may hint at other plot points in the premiere? Feel free to share your theories in the comments below!
