Hulu’s upcoming slate of animated Marvel series has quite a few random pairings, and one of the more interesting ones looks to be ‘Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show.’ Creators Chelsea Handler and Erica Rivinoja are sharing a bit as to how they’ll be bringing these two characters to Hulu in a team up that seems a bit unexpected. While the concept of the series seems like a perfect take on a younger Dazzler, the classic take on Tigra doesn’t sound like she’d fit in quite as well.
As to how the show is being described:
In “Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show,” two woke Super Heroes and best friends, Tigra and Dazzler, fight for recognition among powered people who make up the eight million stories in Los Angeles. “Marvel’s Tigra & Dazzler Show” comes from writers Erica Rivinoja (“The Last Man on Earth,” “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2”) and actress/comedian Chelsea Handler (“Chelsea,” “Are You There, Chelsea?”), with Rivinoja, Handler, and Jeph Loeb serving as Executive Producers.
We already knew that these iterations of the characters would differ from the comics but with Dazzler being one of the most famous X-Men from her time on the stage and having grown into being one of the more powerful mutants out there since her time working on “A-Force,” this feels like a huge step back for her. For Tigra, she had a long stint in the leadership pool of various iterations of ‘The Avengers’ as well as the U.S. government, so this seems to hint that we’ll be seeing younger and inexperienced versions of the characters.
Rivinoja and Handler are alo excited to be part of this pair up:
“We are so excited to be the token lady show in this lineup! And we’re so thrilled to finally bring the world the cat lady and roller skating pop star show that they’ve been begging for.”
While they might be the “token lady show” any fan of either of these two heroes would likely not use “token’ to describe them.
