The actors in the Marvel movies have the hardest job in Hollywood, and we’re not talking all the stunt work. No, these performers have to make the rounds to promote their projects while essentially revealing nothing about the movies! Sebastian Stan a.k.a. Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier, and Cobie Smulders a.k.a. Maria Hill appeared on ‘The Late Late Show with James Corden’ and seemed a little flustered.
Stan just blurted out:
“Bucky’s dead. Happy New Year. That’s it. That’s all I got.”
Smulders added:
“I am terrified. I don’t like talking about this when you’re being recorded. I like doing these movies and if I say things, they won’t ask me to do more movies!”
Both characters were “dusted” at the end of ‘Avengers: Infinity War’. Bucky was actually the first character to vanish, while Maria Hill was next to last, disintegrating just moments before her boss Nick Fury.
Details about ‘Avengers: Endgame‘ are under wraps, but most assume that the surviving heroes will end up traveling backward in time to prevent Thanos from collecting all of the Infinity Stones, and eliminating half the population of the universe.
Smulders just confirmed that Maria Hill is in ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ (along with Nick Fury). Plans for Bucky are more mysterious. It’s possible that Steve Rogers/Captain America (Chris Evans) may die or retire in ‘Endgame’. If so, Bucky is one of two heroes that could carry on as the new Captain America. (The other being The Falcon.) But if that doesn’t happen, there is talk that Stan and Anthony Mackie will costar in a ‘Falcon/Winter Soldier’ miniseries on the upcoming subscription streaming service Disney+.
Luckily, fans don’t have to wait too terribly long to find out how their favorite heroes recover from… being dead. ‘Avengers: Endgame’ arrives in theaters on April 24 and culminates ten years worth of 22 movies.
