Leonardo Nam is the newest cast member added to DC Universe’s upcoming live action series ‘Swamp Thing’. Nam will portray Harlan Edwards, a gay CDC specialist, who acts as the second-in-command to the show’s lead, Abby Arcane, played by Crystal Reed. This appears to be an original character, created for the show that does not originate in the comics.
‘Swamp Thing’ also stars Andy Bean as Doctor Alec Holland, the show’s male lead, a scientist that turns into a hulking plant elemental. Stunt performer Derek Mears will portray the Swamp Thing, post-transformation. Will Patton portrays the show’s villain, Avery Sunderland, while Kevin Durand appears as another villain, Jason Woodrue, who in the comics becomes a plant creature himself, the Floronic Man. Virginia Madsen plays Avery Sunderland’s wife, Maria. Jeryl Prescott appears as blind fortuneteller Madame Xanadu, while Ian Ziering will depict stunt man Dan Cassidy, a.k.a. Blue Devil. Jennifer Beals, Henderson Wade, and Maria Sten complete the cast.
The drama follows what happens when CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus. There, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all.
Nam’s role on ‘Swamp Thing’ is recurring. He has also lined up another recurring role on Amazon’s ‘Sneaky Pete’ starring Giovani Ribisi. Nam may be best recognized for playing lab technician Felix Lutz on ‘Westworld’. He also appeared on ‘The Flash’ as Matthew Kim/Melting Point.
‘Swamp Thing’ is expected to debut on DC Universe on May 10, 2019. It is currently in production.
