While the second season of ‘The Punisher‘ will likely be the last with Netflix canceling every Marvel series they can these days, we have learned a bit more about what Frank Castle will go through in his sophomore outing. While the first season had him still aiming for revenge for what happened to his family, that kind of justice has now been delivered. However, with nothing left to help guide him through the traumatic experience he has suffered from war and the loss of the only people he truly loved, we’re now going to see Castle take up a new hobby.
According to showrunner Steve Lightfoot, Frank is going to be going after criminals while adopting the identity he is known for in the comics:
“If you ask, ‘What is the theme of season 2?’ It’s about Frank really adopting the mantle of The Punisher.”
So far, Castle’s one-man war on crime has been about revenge, and it looks like he’ll be changing things up in the second season. The character will now be punishing criminals as an outlet for his rage and not only will he embrace this idea, but will become the anti-hero he is known to be in the comics. We know that in this outing that Frank will have multiple enemies once again with one being Ben Barnes returning as Jigsaw while another villain is also lurking in the shadows.
Are you excited to know that we’ll be seeing Frank Castle become The Punisher in the second season of this series? Is there any chance that Netflix will make this show an exception and bring Jon Bernthal back for a third outing? Share your thoughts in the comments below, True Believers!
