The Glass Trailers Aren't What They Seem According To M. Night Shyamalan

In a move that should surprise no one familiar with M. Night Shyamalan‘s work, the director has just shared that the trailers for ‘Glass‘ don’t share what the movie actually is going to be about. I’m sure we’re all shocked that the director is planning on giving us a twist in the film, let alone a twist from the marketing to the movie itself.

As to ‘Glass’ not being the movie which you think it will be, Shyamalan doesn’t give out a direct spoiler but does say:

“I don’t want to spoil anything for you, but there’s a lot of references to the movie that it knows you think it’s going to be. It’s very aware of that, and it will tell you that, and then it becomes this other thing.”

It feels too early to hazard a guess as to what this actually means for ‘Glass.’ So far we’ve seen the characters of Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and James McAvoy all coming together in an institution and a potential escape. While we know how Mr. Glass ended up there and likely Kevin Wendell Crumb as well from how ‘Split’ ended, how David Dunn being thrown into the mix is still unclear.

Going further into this idea, the director shares that “It’s pretty meta! [laughs] It feels like we’re somewhat commenting on the 18 years that has come before us. I don’t want to ruin it, but there’s a couple of little wonderful things you can find in there.”

Following the conclusion of ‘Split,’ ‘Glass’ finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.

‘Glass’ will break into your local theaters on January 18th, 2019!
