Sabine Wren The Mandalorian

So it is important for this story to take everything with a grain of salt, as Disney/ Lucasfilm is notorious for keeping their secrets, and they are very good about it, and what does manage to slip out does not always mean what we think that it does.

So here is what is happening.

On the set of ‘The Mandalorian,’ apparently there is a new cutting edge technology being used in the new series that is supposed to keep down the cost of special effects in one way or another, and according to sources over at Making Star Wars, that technology was used recently to create a real-live version of the helmet of Sabine Wren, the Mandalorian member of the ‘Star Wars: Rebels‘ crew. To be fair, just having the helmet around does not necessarily mean that Sabine is going to appear in the series, as they could just have her helmet there as a placeholder, or an Easter egg, or even a kind of MacGuffin or symbol for the other Mandalorians who remember her deeds from ‘Star Wars Rebels.’ And while some articles I’ve read have argued that having a major character like Sabine would fly in the face of the title of the series, which might imply a single “Mandalorian” in the show, I disagree wholeheartedly, as in ‘Star Wars’ lore “The Mandalorian” could also be the title for the ruler of the planet of Mandalore, which is what I suspect the real meaning of the title is, especially in light of the rumors about the baby the main character is taking care of who could one day unite and rule the Mandalorian people.

All of which is to say that Sabine COULD appear in ‘The Mandalorian,’ but regardless of whether or not they cast someone to play the live-action version of her or not (some are speculating they already have in the form of Gina Carano who is in the series in an untitled role), it is very likely her helmet is in the show, and at the very least her name/ memory of her deeds will come up at one point or another, which is still pretty interesting (and not that surprising considering the fact that Dave Filoni is heavily involved in the series as well).

What are your thoughts on Sabine’s helmet being made into a live-action prop? Do you think she will have a role to play? Feel free to share your theories in the comments below!
