Netflix Conjures A Trailer To Announce The Release Date For Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina S2

While it’s the Christmas season, Netflix has dropped a new trailer announcing the return date for its Halloween hit ‘Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’.  The quasi-‘Riverdale’ spin-off premiered on the streaming service on October 26, with its first batch of ten episodes.  While some Netflix shows take YEARS off between seasons, ‘Sabrina’ isn’t even going to stay away for one year.  Instead of holding Season Two for Halloween 2019, the series will be back to add a little chill to viewers’ spring, on April 5, 2019.

Check out this tease of Season Two below:

If you haven’t seen all of Season One, this next bit contains SPOILERS, so turn back if you don’t want to know how things turned out.

At the end of Season One, Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka), who had been struggling to balance her dual nature as half-mortal, half-witch, was manipulated by her trusted teacher Mary Wardwell (Michelle Gomez) into embracing her witch destiny, resulting in her hair turning white and her agreeing to attend the Academy of Hidden Arts full-time.  As the final episode faded to black, Sabrina was even seen strutting hand-in-hand with the wicked Mean Sisters.  However, she also coyly winked at the camera and as Shipka revealed in early November, “She has an agenda.”

As seen in the trailer, among other developments, it seems that Sabrina is also going to get closer to the kind-hearted warlock Nicholas Scratch (Gavin Leatherwood), which could spell disaster for her romance with mortal Harvey Kinkle (Ross Lynch), whose family, it turned out, came from a long line of witch-slayers.  So that probably wasn’t going to work out anyway.

The series is adding at least two new cast members for Season Two.  Alexis Denisof, formerly of ‘Buffy’, ‘Angel’ and ‘How I Met Your Mother’, will portray Adam Masters, Mary Wardwell’s boyfriend, who is described as:

“Handsome and charming, Adam returns to Greendale after a stint overseas working with Physicians Without Frontiers — unaware that his fiance has been taken over by the demoness Madam Satan.”

Meanwhile, Jedidiah Goodacre (‘The Descendants’ TV movie series) will portray Oscar Wilde’s Dorian Gray:

“The owner of Dorian’s Gray Room, an exclusive nightclub, this enigmatic gentleman of an indeterminate age is very good at keeping secrets, especially his own — a cursed portrait he hides from prying eyes.”

Dorian’s Gray Room is glimpsed in the trailer, where Sabrina and company are shown cavorting.

Before Season Two arrives, Netflix is gifting fans with the Sabrina holiday special “A Midwinter’s Tale,” on December 14.

The Sabrina holiday special is set during the Church of Night’s celebration of the winter solstice. On the longest night of the year, families gather around the Yule fire to sing pagan carols and tell ghost stories. But the holidays are also a time for guests and visitors — both welcome and unwelcome.
