Check Out The Trailer For Hulu's Pooka Episode For Into The Dark

Holiday horror can often be fun but until Hulu‘s ongoing “Into the Dark” series, there hasn’t been a consistent flow of it. Blumhouse Television’s anthology series has been going strong, and the third installment will be the Christmas-themed ‘Pooka’ which is coming out next month. The first trailer puts you into what could either be the case of psychological horror or possession depending on what route the film goes.

Director Nacho Vigalondo (‘Colossal‘,’Extraterrestrial’) has given us an interesting tale of an out of work actor who is desperate for a job. He lands up having to portray a large version of the hottest toy for the holiday season, the Pooka! However, things start going strange as how he acts while in the suit and outside of it seem like two different lives. It gets worse as the persona he has while dressed as the Pooka, which isn’t his own, is starting to bleed out into the real world.

Both ‘The Body’ and ‘Flesh and Blood’ which were the first two films in this series seemed to blend comedy and horror which also appears to be happening here. However, the humor seems to be more in the aesthetic of the suit and situation that the actor played by Nyasha Hatendi finds himself in as opposed to anything else.

A struggling actor gets a holiday season job as a Christmas character in a plush
suit to promote the hottest toy of the year, “Pooka.” At first, it’s a fun and friendly
distraction, but he slowly develops two personalities–one when he’s in the suit,
and one that’s outside it–as Pooka slowly starts to take possession of him. This
unconventional monster movie is directed by Academy Award-nominated film-
maker Nacho Vigalondo, the visionary behind the acclaimed 2016 Kaiju film
COLOSSAL.

You can strap in and check out ‘Pooka’ on Hulu on December 7th, 2018!
