harbinger

Sony has been working with Valiant Comics to bring their works to the big screen, and it appears that ‘Harbinger‘ is the next comic they’ll be tackling.  The deal stems from a 5-picture deal that Sony signed with Neil Moritz’s Original Film studio back in 2015 to adapt these characters and with Vin Diesel getting closer to wrapping on ‘Bloodshot,’ the studio is already looking towards the future.

The project already has a helmer attached as Justin Tipping has signed on to direct. If you don’t recognize the name you shouldn’t be too surprised as just like Dave Wilson who is helming ‘Bloodshot‘, we’re getting a director whose freshman outing will be a major feature film.

We know that ‘Bloodshot’ will is scheduled to be in your local theater on February 21st, 2020 and it looks as if Sony doesn’t want to wait too long until the second installment is released. The script has already been worked on by both Tipping and Joshua Beirne-Golden. What we know about the film so far is that it will follow the teenager Pete Stancheck who will go by the name Sting. He is “a young man born with amazing paranormal abilities as he joins forces with others who have similar powers to foil a mastermind set on weaponizing their powers.”

Outside of Pete, the film will also include “his friend Joe Irons, Kris Hathaway, Faith Hebert, aka Zephyr, and Charlene Dupre, aka Flamingo as they rebel against Toyo Harada and his plans to conquer the planet.” We’ll likely see some aspect of ‘Bloodshot’ teased here to let audiences know this is a shared universe.

The comic book ‘Harbinger’ ran for 41-issues throughout 12 years after it debuted in 1992 by Jim Shooter and David Lapham. It has been held to much critical acclaim having been nominated for three Harvey Awards.
