Shazam

If you’ve been hoping that David F. Sandberg‘s (‘Annabelle: Creation’,’Lights Out’) was going to release another trailer for ‘Shazam!’ in time for the holidays, possibly with ‘Aquaman‘, you may be disappointed. The director of the film is stressing that the quality needs to be there for the next sneak peek at the movie and at this time it just isn’t ready for primetime. Hopefully, that isn’t worrying anyone too much as the movie has a release date of April 5th, 2019!

To put it into perspective, ‘Godzilla: King of the Monsters‘ isn’t slated to be released for a month after that, and we’ve just learned it has finished post-production. Of course, most films these days are working on visual effects until almost the week of release, so this isn’t news that should be worrisome.

As to when we can expect a new trailer? “Never!” was Sandberg’s initial response which quickly proved to be a joke. Here’s exactly when the next trailer will drop according to the director:

We saw that in ‘Deadpool 2’ it was quite easy to substitute out visuals for action figures and no one minded, but that is a gag that probably wouldn’t be as successful the second time around. I’m all for DC allowing the directors of their films to give us quality over quantity and luckily Sandberg agrees.

Do you think that we’ll end up getting a new ‘Shazam!’ trailer with the release of ‘Aquaman’ or will it be further down the line? Share your thoughts in the comments below!

We all have a superhero inside us, it just takes a bit of magic to bring it out. In Billy Batson’s (Angel) case, by shouting out one word—SHAZAM!—this streetwise 14-year-old foster kid can turn into the adult Super Hero Shazam (Levi), courtesy of an ancient wizard. Still, a kid at heart—inside a ripped, godlike body—Shazam revels in this adult version of himself by doing what any teen would do with superpowers: have fun with them! Can he fly? Does he have X-ray vision? Can he shoot lightning out of his hands? Can he skip his social studies test? Shazam sets out to test the limits of his abilities with the joyful recklessness of a child. But he’ll need to master these powers quickly in order to fight the deadly forces of evil controlled by Dr. Thaddeus Sivana (Strong).

‘Shazam!’ will be flying into your local theater on April 5th, 2019!
