Lucy Hale has booked her vacation to Blumhouse’s ‘Fantasy Island’.  Earlier this year, Hale starred in Blumhouse’s ‘Truth or Dare’ which was directed by Jeff Wadlow, who is also heading up ‘Fantasy Island’.  Sony is co-producing and co-financing this picture, which is, of course, a big screen adaptation of the ’70s-’80s anthology television series.

Hale joins Michael Peña, who will headline as the enigmatic Mr. Roarke, the Island’s host.  ‘Crazy Rich Asians” Jimmy O. Yang is also signed on to star, with rumors that Dave Bautista may also join them on their “vacation.”  Hale’s character will be named Melanie, but nothing else was revealed, however a previous casting description for a character named “Sloane Bridges” seems like it would be a perfect fit for Hale.

A breath-taking young woman who has never had to prove herself, Sloane Bridges is coasting through life. Though she’s newly married, with a seemingly perfect picture life, appearances can be deceiving.

Yang’s character, Brax, is a younger brother of a character named JD.  The siblings journey to Fantasy Island to live out their fantasy of “having it all.”  Bautista’s character, Damon, is described as “a former guest who has been forced into an extended stay on the island, he is determined to reveal its secrets and expose Roarke.”  It is believed that since Blumhouse is delivering this picture that things will take a horror slant.  The script comes from Wadlow, Chris Roach, and Jillian Jacobs.

Hale is best known for starring on ABC Family/Freeform’s ‘Pretty Little Liars’.  Her CW series ‘Life Sentence’ aired this spring but was not renewed for a second season.  This year, she has also appeared in the films ‘The Unicorn’ and ‘Dude’.  She is currently filming the comedy ‘A Nice Girl Like You’.

‘Fantasy Island’ doesn’t yet have a production or release date, but at this rate, it could easily arrive sometime in 2019.
