On this day in 1983, Hawkins native Will Beyers disappeared. Of course, as the events of the hit Netflix series ‘Stranger Things’ revealed, he was later found but was not exactly the same innocent boy he was before. In honor of that date, November 6 has been declared ‘Stranger Things’ Day. And in honor of that, the Netflix show, which did not have a new season this year, released a short celebratory video from the cast who are currently at work filming Season 3. The younger portion of the cast– Millie Bobby Brown (who plays Eleven), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin Henderson), Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas Sinclair), Noah Schnapp (Will Byers), Sadie Sink (Max Mayfair), and Finn Wolfhard (Mike Wheeler) wish their fans a “Happy ‘Stranger Things’ Day!”

‘Stranger Things’ became an instant sensation when it premiered in 2016. It was followed by a second installment in 2017, which was appropriately set roughly a year later. The third season, however, will not appear until 2019. While the first two seasons took place in the fall and winter of their respective years, Season 3 will be set in the summer, while the kids are out of school. In fact, Joe Keery’s character, Steve Harrington, will have just graduated high school and will be working at an ice cream parlor, Scoops Ahoy, located at the new Starcourt Mall. His co-worker, Robin, played by Maya Hawke will play a big role in upcoming episodes.
Hawkins will once again find itself besieged by the Mind Flayer, the major baddie from Season 2, who pulls the strings of the other creatures from the Upside Down. The show’s creators, the Duffer Brothers, have stated that the new episodes will reference John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’ as well as the works of zombie-maestro George Romero and ‘The Fly’-helmer David Cronenberg.
The first two seasons of ‘Stranger Things’ premiered on Netflix in the fall, in time for Halloween. It’s possible that the third will do the same, but here’s hoping that the summertime setting might translate to an earlier release for the third.
