Stranger Things

On November 6, 1983, Will Byers disappeared.  And Netflix is remembering that date next Tuesday, on what will now be known as ‘Stranger Things’ Day.  Via the Stranger Things Twitter account, Netflix released a video promoting this date.  The clip begins with footage from the show, focusing on the events leading up to Will’s disappearance, namely the boy’s D&D game.  “But,” as the clip announces, “Will’s disappearance was only the beginning.”

From there, the clip mixes footage and voiceover from the series with videos and photos of fans paying tribute to the series, whether it’s playing the show’s ominous theme song, creating ‘Stranger Things’-inspired art or dressing up in cosplay as their favorite characters.

The video invites viewers to join Netflix in celebrating ‘Stranger Things’ Day on Tuesday of next week.  Check it out:

But what is ‘Stranger Things’ Day?  That isn’t really clear.  It’s not as though Netflix can run a marathon of episodes… at least not any more than normal, since subscribers can binge it whenever they want.

The third season is currently filming, but perhaps there is enough footage in the can for the creators to edit together a teaser.  Any little morsel would be great, considering there were no new episodes this year.

Fans in Orlando will get a special treat.  Universal Orlando Resort will reopen their ‘Stranger Things’ haunted house for the evening.  This was an attraction during their Halloween festivities, but with the holiday over, the attraction has been closed.

Guests will walk in the footsteps of Will as they encounter iconic scenes, characters and environments from the first season of the series – including the menacing Hawkins National Laboratory, the Byers home adorned with an erratic display of flashing Christmas lights and the predatory Demogorgon…which will stalk their every move.

Guests will also be able to enjoy foods and beverages inspired by Netflix’s “Stranger Things” at select locations within Universal Studios.

The “Stranger Things” haunted house will open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6, and access is included with admission to Universal Studios Florida or with an Annual or Seasonal Pass.  Passholders will also get access to the haunted house’s Express line by showing their valid pass at the entrance to the house.

Hopefully, Netflix has something special in store for all fans, and not just those in the Orlando area.
